I don't see a whole lot of reviews or presentations on the Yellow Birch Outfitters midori notebooks so here it is. This is my first entry to the midori notebooks.

Yellow Birch Outfitters is based in Connecticut, USA and specializes in leather notebooks and pocket EDC organizers. Not exactly knowing what I was getting myself into besides that I like the smell and feel of good leather, I got myself their Signature Notebook.

After receiving it all I can say is that I am well pleased with the construction and quality of the book. It came with a Field Notes 48 page graph book. I also ordered their Original leather folder insert so that it could hold some extra cards or whatnot but importantly a pen. After researching about midori notebooks (probably should have done that beforehand) it might not have been exactly necessary to purchase the insert but I'll keep it in there anyway.

To open the book you move the elastic loop out of the way. The one on the Yellow Birch Outfitters notebooks are secured in the middle of the book spine as opposed to others where it's on the back face of the book cover.

I've added two lined Field Notes notebooks in addition to the graph notebook. These I will be writing on and can easily be swapped out for new books when it's full.

I am currently using three of the four built in elastic bands that hold the notebooks. To change out a notebook you simply open the Field Notes notebook to the middle where it's binded, then slide the book under the elastic band. Depending on your pant pocket size, I could fit this into my back pocket with three booklets and the leather folder insert. You also get four black bookmarks which I do not use and sits on the side and out of the way

Not exactly sure what I want to put in the little folder pockets but for now I have a tritium rod in a ziploc back for no apparent reason. The pen is a Uni-ball and it's what I will use until I decide to buy a dedicated pen. Perhaps I may even buy the waterproof Field Notes and pen.

This book is completely customizable. While it's a bit taller in dimensions for the midori brand passport inserts, you can still use just about anything but the Yellow Birch Outfitters is primarily designed for the Field Notes notebooks. If you want to you can add on trinkets and other decorative items to personalize your notebook.
Since I am now out of school, I at least plan to keep this as a traveler's companion unless I decide to buy a bigger notebook.
